tamon-higashi junior high school kobe   eco & seismic renovation proposal buttress vierendeel truss

this competition was organized as workshop style proposal in 2006. unfortunately the result was the 2nd prize. we decided to choose the solution with buttress both on the gable end side, and the both buttress tied on the eaves side with vierendeel truss on top of the existing school building. new spaces created by added construction can be used as gardens. so we named the concept "learning in the hanging gardens". this competition was worked out with TEO Architects.
